
The Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) is all set to avail a loan of Rs 50 crore from Karnataka Infrastructure Development Corporation for developing the park and surrounding areas.

βIn view of the recent elephant attack in Anekal-Bannerghatta area, the department plans to spend Rs 350 crore to prevent wildlife from entering cities and towns, by constructing boundary walls and erecting solar fences around forest area,β he said

I am quite nervous about this proposal, although this appears to be more of a zoo than a tourist scheme. Yet, the often-horrible conditions of Indian zoos and wildlife parks make me still concerned for this. Couldn’t this money had been better used to help the leopards and other animals in the wild?
