Report on the Tiger found in Corbett posted earlier.. all parts were found to be intact..but surprisingly, a broken scapula & dislocated 4th & 5th lumbar vertebrae were found.. cause of death as yet unknown, awaiting test results..
The death toll for tiger is showing a sharp increase in the past few months. A Tiger, which was previously reported injured in Jaspur area of Phato beat, was found dead on the night of 24th April 2012. On 23rd April, this very tiger was reported to attack and injure a forest guard from a patrolling group, who was later admitted to hospital in Kashipur. The body of the tiger was brought to CTR office for postmortem where Dr. Rajiv Singh and Dr. Bharat Singh carried out the procedures on 25th April at 10:00 am . Apart from a few injury marks outside the body, all the tiger parts were found to be intact (teeth, claws, skin etc.). However, surprisingly when the body was examined, a broken scapula and dislocated 4th and 5th lumber vertebrae were found. Samples from few internal organs were sent to the lab to determine the probable cause of death. The cause of death cannot be known until the reports from the lab are received. After the autopsy, the animal was burnt in the nearby area within the CTR campus. Pic Courtesy : corbettfoundation
