Time for a Hwange love story…or maybe not?! Remember the cheetah mother with three cubs? She was seen on Dett vlei appeasing the territorial male with lots of purring and rolling around. Two of her three cubs were out of sight, the third cub was close by. The male seemed to be giving the female some trouble. The female was very focal and regularly called, but at the same time deliberately kept the third cub at a distance by swatting it when it came too close. Was the mother appeasing the male to protect her cubs or did she fancy the male? We will probably never know… Thank you Brent, Laurie, Marleen and Brian for this great observation.
