BANGALORE: That the students should be taken for nature trails regularly to develop a sensitivity towards nature became the core area of discussion at the Kids for Tigers, where teachers gathered to combat tiger crisis.
The workshop focused at helping teachers share their own concept of environmental education and the applicability of the curriculum with conservation in the real world. “The connection between saving tigers, forests and nature has to be imparted to children by the teachers on a real time basis. As a beginning, the teachers have decided to involve children more into nature by conducting nature trail regularly. We can probably start with Lalbagh,” said Usha Ramaiah, coordinatork, Kids for Tigers.
The Kids for Tiger programme in its 12th year is focusing on the need to act now to stem the rapid decline in tiger population and degradation of vital tiger landscape. The programme was attended by 32 teachers from 23 schools.
