As The World Sits and Watches along side the People of India, – There are So Many Unanswered Questions.
What is it about this whole Translocation Project that is not totally being revealed to us?
Why would any Prominent Conservationist or Wildlife Organization Agree with any of this?
Our Main Concern and Question is “Why would the Government of India put the Lives of it’s Own Asiatic Lions in Jeopardy like this”????
Why does India’s Government want to Risk any of these Lions, Why does India’s Government want to kick their own people out of their homes to make room for these lions, and How could they take these Lions out of the Wild once they are of no use to them and place them in A Zoo?!
We read about Wild Animals being placed in Zoos when they become a threat to humans or if they have been injured and cannot be released back into the wild, haven’t we….BUT the plan is , once A Male Lion is of no longer any use in the New home of Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary it will be placed in a Zoo! Not because it killed any cattle , not because it was a threat to humans – but because it will not be of any more use and will be replaced with another younger Male Lion after 3-5 years!
Are you having a hard time registering all of this??? Because I certainly am! Let me get this straight –CERTAIN MALE LIONS ALREADY HAVE THEIR PLACE IN A ZOO AFTER 3-5 YEARS BECAUSE THEY WILL BE TOO OLD AND OF NO USE???? THESE SELECTED MALE LIONS ARE DESTINED TO LIVING OUT THE REST OF THEIR LIVES IN CAPTIVITY BECAUSE THIS PROJECT SAYS SO?????
These Majestic Creatures have lived along side the people of the Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary for how many years now…. Both have learned to coexist with each other. Both having respect and acceptance for each other. The people and the Gir Government of the Gir Forest National Park also watching over the safety of these 400 Asiatic Lions from poachers. Seriously how often do we hear about an Asiatic Lion being poached from the Gir Forest?
What do you think is going to happen to these “Selected” Lions once they are placed in unsafe poacher territory of “Kuno Sanctuary”…..
We are witnessing something horrible unfold right before our eyes. We are witnessing the demise of these Lions. We are watching with are jaws hanging as India’s Asiatic Lions are being forced out of their safe havens and basically thrown into their possible Death and Eventual Captivity….
Where is the justice or Sense of Any of this…………..
WII (Wildlife Institute of India) recommendation
WII report clearly mentions that “ Genetic Consideration would not be a major factor, provided fresh male lions are moved from Gir to Kuno every three to five years and the resident Males selectively captured for Zoo“.
