Today we feature one of the most beautiful Tigresses of all time, Sundari (T-17).
Born in 2007/07 to the legendary Machali, Sundari a.k.a Satra (T-17) was one of the star attractions of the park until her mysterious disappearance in March 2013. In a coup of sorts, Sundari had overthrown her mother Machali, driven out her siblings (T-18 & T-19) & captured the prime territory of the Lake area which has abundant water & prey population.
She’d mated with Star Male (T-28) as well as Dollar (T-25) and had given birth to a litter of 3 cubs in Nov/Dec 2011. She was doting mother and an agile hunter until her fight with Star Male left her bruised & battered to the extent that she had to receive emergency medical aid from the Forest department vets. Participants of Tiger Trackers February tour to Ranthambhore were the last ones to sight Sundari & her cubs and unfortunately, calamity struck when she was never to be seen again. She was last sighted alone, limping her way out of the tourism zone to the periphery of the park notorious for illegal mining activity.
Her cubs are currently being constantly monitored and fed with live bait by the Forest department, we hope these orphaned cubs have the same steely resolve as their late mother and they grow up to carry forward the Sundari’s legacy. Miss you Girl !!!
