Imagine if there was no chance of seeing the king in Africa. Imagine nobody would ever again feel the shiver of excitement when seeing Africa’s biggest cats. In the 1900’s there were at least 500,000 lions in Africa!
1960: 200.000 lions
1980: 76.000 lions
2012: 23.000 lions
2013: 15.000 lions
The wild lion population within the next 10 to 15 years unless something dramatic is done about the situation. These figures represent a 95% decline in these predator populations.
In fact there are more captive lions in South Africa than wild ones.
Many of these captive animals are reared specifically to be shot by hunters and tourists and their bones sold for ‘traditional medicines’. This method of “canned hunting” is completely legal in South Africa. Canned hunting is to be stopped!!!
