We can confirm that the viciously long suffering Tiger, Chandrika, has died at midnight last night (Feb.6/2014).
The true horror of Chandrika’s last 6 months was hidden from the public by Surabaya Zoo, and in fact Surabaya Zoo did not want Chandrika’s situation to be public knowledge as they did not want the outrage to happen, with what happened to Melani.
It was not until we actually went in there ourselves that we knew the true horror of Chandrika’s situation. Here it is.
From August last year, Chandrika became ill, she would not eat her food. Chandrika was given anti biotics, but no real testing was given to her to find out the cause of why she stopped eating.
3 months ago, locked in her cell, and in severe pain, Chandrika bit off her tongue. We did not know that until a few days ago.
On seeing Chandrika’s critical state, Cee4life pushed hard with the Zoo, to get aid to her.
I can confirm that during the last of Chandrika’s days on earth, she had lost her mind with pain.
the white pieces hanging off her tongue are actually her nerve fibres of her tongue.
After consulting with Veterinarians and other professionals, we believe that Chandrika had sustained an infection, probably on her left shoulder, that developed into a weeping tumor, which she licked and licked to ease. This infection was then passed onto her tongue, where she endured excruciating pain until she bit her tongue off.
For the last 3 months of her life, she sat in that cage you see, she received NO medication.
Cee4life had attained Chandrika’s needs, and were able to secure the equipment needed to actually treat her. We also pushed this through to the highest levels of Indonesian Government, and also Veterinary bodies, who were all in agreement with Cee4life that Chandrika needed aid urgently. We have been waiting for the confirmation to go in… but she has died. That confirmation was to come from one person… the Mayor… it didnt come.
