MYSORE: A tiger was found dead in the Chikkalli forest area in Sathyamangalam forest range of Erode district in Tamil Nadu.
According to forest department sources, the tiger’s carcass was in a highly decomposed state and officials suspected it to be a natural death. “As the tiger’s paw nails, teeth and skin are intact, it might have died of a natural death,” a source disclosed to TOI, adding that it is not possible for the officials to whether the tiger was from BR Hills tiger sanctuary or from Tamil Nadu side.
It was said that tiger’s body was hardly a few metres away from the B R Hills tiger sanctuary border.
When contacted the B R Hills tiger sanctuary ACF S S Lingaraju washed of his hands of the incident by saying that tiger has died on the Tamil Nadu side and they have no role to play in it.
Meanwhile, the officials suspected of people from nearby villages who might have fed up of its menace might have poisoned it by feeding it with a poison laced meat.
