Target: Governor of Indiana Mike Pence
Goal: Punish man who runs Wildlife in Need Sanctuary for abusing tiger cub
In a video documented and shared by PETA, a man named Tim Stark is shown abusing a tiger cub in front of a group of visitors. Tim Stark, who runs the Wildlife in Need Sanctuary, is seen hitting the cub after it attempts to bite him in retaliation, holding it up by the nape of its neck to show visitors what a “[ticked] off tiger looked like,” and even dropping it onto a guest’s lap. He also tells the visitors to “smack [the cub] on the nose and tell it ‘no’” if it begins to misbehave. Animal abuse is not a new thing to Stark, however. He had previously been charged with giving bears and tigers dirty drinking water as well as failing to provide animals with shelter to escape the heat. Not surprisingly, the Wildlife in Need Sanctuary last year and two of their leopards died from illness as a result. In the past, Stark has also plead guilty to illegally trafficking an ocelot.
On the issue of the tiger cub abuse incident, a PETA spokesperson stated, “Encouraging the public to handle vulnerable cubs roughly and to hit them when they resist is cruel. We, PETA, are asking authorities to inspect this outfit immediately and also warn families that the deceitfully named Wildlife in Need is no place to take kids or anyone else who cares about animals.”
Please sign this petition to ensure that Tim Stark will be punished for publicly and unashamedly abusing a tiger cub.
